• Wishing to replace the marble floor at the Palace of Versailles with a wooden one, back in 1684, the “parquet de menuiserie” (wooden parquet) was installed – large diagonal squares of parquet that are known to this day as the “Versailles flooring”.

• Similar to Versailles flooring, Chantilly parquet is named after the floors at Château Domaine de Chantilly. This design in stacking the parquet boards is slightly different from Versailles, which adds to its uniqueness and beauty. It was made by hand from the finest European oak.

• The story of Chevron parquet begins in medieval heraldry, ancient Greek pottery and textiles. The word “chevron” first appeared in England in the 14th century, derived from the Latin word “caprio”, meaning “rafter”, which refers to a roof beam – that is, joining bricks in a zigzag pattern to build a roof. This form of joining, at an angle of 60 degrees, later became synonymous with the production of parquet, which we now call Chevron.
